Welding For Landscaping – The Easiest Way To Get Started

If you’re a landscaper and you want to learn how to weld for landscaping, then in this article I’m going to lay out the best, fastest, and easiest way to learn how to weld fast.

Hi, my name is Garrett Strong…

I’ve been helping beginners & hobbyists learn to weld online for several years now. I’ve helped thousands of people just like you get started learning to mig weld.  If you’d like to get started, Download my FREE beginner’s guide to MIG welding. It’s a super simple mig welding process pdf.

Do you have a landscaping project that requires you to do some welding, but you don’t have the luxury to spend time at a welding school?

If so, I have some good news for you.

When I first started welding about 9 years ago, I was welding with an oxy fuel setup. Oxy acetylene welding to be exact.

It’s a long process that takes time to get good at, but even if you do master gas welding, it’s an extremely slow method of welding.

Would you like to learn the easiest welding process, you can get started on that welding project now.

MIG Welding (Metal Inert Gas) is by far the most user friendly welding process for beginners. There’s just no comparison to oxy fuel, TIG welding, or even stick welding.

When you’re MIG welding, you are simply pulling the trigger on a MIG gun to feed the wire electrode.

welding with mig-mag method

And wallah, you’re laying your first weld.

Compare that to arc welding with a stick welder, and you’ll discover that those take more time to master.

If you’re in a hurry to learn how to weld, I recommend that you start with a MIG welder.

Best part is that you don’t need a shielding gas when you use flux core wire. This wire is designed with the protective flux on the inside of the wire.

And most projects can be done with a basic 140 amp flux core welder. Something like a Hobart 140 is a good one to start with. It will weld up to 1/4″, and if you need to do thicker metal then simply run multiple passes. Make sure you clean your metal between passes.

You don’t want inclusions in your welds.

To do some welding on site at your landscaping jobs, all you have do buy is a small flux core welder and plug it in to a 110 volt outlet.

There is no need to haul around a gigantic welder for small jobs. However, you may want to consider a generator welder at some point if you get bigger jobs. Just a thought.

Welding for landscaping projects doesn’t have to give you a headache.

With that said, you will get headaches if you don’t tune your MIG welder correctly, and the wire feeds out all crazy. You will get headaches when you start burning through projects, completely destroying the look. You will get headaches when it comes time to weld in different positions.

Positions like horizontal MIG welding, Vertical MIG welding, Overhead MIG welding, and any other out of the flat position you find yourself in. The reason this can be difficult is you need to learn how to manipulate the weld puddle and gun angle.
