Why MIG Welding Techniques Are Like Kissing A Stranger

Did you know that learning MIG welding techniques is like kissing a stranger?

My name is Garrett Strong.

I’ve been helping beginners & hobbyists learn to weld online for several years now. I’ve helped thousands of people just like you get started learning to mig weld.  If you’d like to get started, Download my FREE beginner’s guide to MIG welding.

Learning MIG welding techniques is like kissing stranger, and I’ll prove it to you.

Of the thousands of beginners I’ve helped learn how to MIG weld, one particular customer stands out in my mind.

His name is Ethan.

He was in a tough spot, and needed to train his staff for a recently opened welding company in South Africa.

He came across makemoneywelding.com by accident, and a week later he excitedly emailed me, so I saved his email. It was really inspiring to me and to others who want to master MIG welding for hobby, repairs, metal art, and anything else really.

Here was his exact email:

“Hi Garrett

My name is Ethan, I run a small recently opened welding company in South Africa. I have been welding for a few years. I’m coded and weld anything from 1.6 mm plate to 2″ plate daily. Manufacturing a whole range of agricultural implements.

Just wanted to let you know I’ve been using your vids and write ups to train my staff, so far I have trained 2 of my guys with completely no skills to a decent stitch. Great work”

Many thanks, Ethan van Jaarsveld

While that feedback was great, I’m not showing it to you for any other reason than this…

Ethan’s new staff were completely lost on how to MIG weld, and needed guidance.

Learning MIG welding techniques was a new territory that they felt was over their head. After going through my 90 Minute MIG Mastery video training system, they were completely prepared to start helping Ethan’s business become profitable.

But how is learning MIG welding techniques like kissing a stranger, and what does that have to do with anything?

Well, it’s simple. Let me explain…

You wouldn’t walk up and kiss a stranger, would you?

I hope not.

But let’s say you had your mind made up. You’ve thought about it long and hard, and dammit, you’re going to kiss a stranger.

You’ve started to plan it all out. “How can I get them to commit to a kiss without running away?”

You decide that the best way to approach them is to simply ask “hey, do you mind if I kiss you?”

“No, no” you decide. That’s too strong.

“I’ve got to make them come to me.”

So, you devise a plan. “I’ll make myself so unavoidable, they’ll have to come to me.”

But how do you do that? Great question.

You decide to make a cardboard sign with the headline…

“Free Kisses From God”

Now you’ve got their attention. Crowds are flocking to you just like you planned, but how do you get past their skepticism about kissing you? After all, you’re not God.

When the crowds start to gather, and they ask you “How can you make such a claim?”

You answer with the only honest answer you can give them.

“If we’re all children of God, why wouldn’t you share a harmless kiss with a stranger?”

Now, you’ll very likely get told no by 80% of the people. But there always remains that 20% who will likely comply with your offer.

That story is meant to help you understand that poor planning won’t help you achieve your goals. Poor planning is the enemy of reaching a goal.

In that story, I illustrated how it’s best to achieve goals slowly and methodically, and this parallels perfectly with MIG welding.

The most common mistake I see beginners make is they want to learn how to weld so fast that they skip all the hard work of mastering basic welding. You first must Master the flat position, vertical position, horizontal position, and overhead.

Then you can move on to learning all about welding joints like butt joints, t-joints, lap joints, and more. Only then should you move on to your welding project, because things get pretty hairy if you don’t have those basic skills.

Garrett
