Longevity MIG 140 MIGWeld Review: How To Pick Your First MIG Welder

longevity migweld 140 review

Hi,

I’m Garrett Strong with MakeMoneyWelding.com

So you’re in the market for a MIG welder, and possibly a Longevity MIG 140 to start out with, huh?

In this post I want to do a little comparison with the Longevity MIG 140 and a more expensive brand.

First, just a little blurb…

My name is Garrett Strong.

I’ve been helping beginners & hobbyists learn to weld online for several years now. I’ve helped thousands of people just like you get started learning to mig weld with my beginners guide to welding.

When I began hobby welding I thought that I had to have the most expensive equipment on the market, but I slowly realized that what matters most is your skill level.

I want to steer you in the right direction, so I’ll just be blunt with you here.

If you want to spend an arm and a leg and get an expensive MIG welder then go for it.

Just know this first.

This is exactly why I recommend that all beginners who want to learn how to MIGĀ  should consider a longevity MIG 140 MIGWeld.

Does that mean that all people should go out and buy a Longevity?

No, but if you’re just getting started and you want a solid machine at a great price then I would go in that direction.

Why Longevity?

Well, because for literally half the price of a Miller 140 mig, Lincoln 140 mig, or a Hobart 140 mig you can buy a Longevity MIG 140 and have the added spool gun capability for aluminum welding (not offered by other 140 amp machines.)

Now, I have to say that I would be a BIG hypocrite if I only recommended the Longevity MIG 140 since I do also own a Hobart 140.

But the reason I’m so happy to recommend this welder to beginners is because most people don’t want to spend a lot to get started.

Let’s take a look at the side-by-side comparison of the two MIG 140 welders.

Longevity MIGWeld 140 Vs. Hobart Handler 140

So, you can see that the BIG benefit of the Longevity welder is the affordability. Not only that, but it’s spool gun capable which means you can weld aluminum with the Longevity MIG 140.

You can’t do that with the Hobart Handler 140.

When you consider that for half the price you can buy the same exact machine, with spool gun capabilities it’s a no brainer.

Don’t get me wrong. I love my Hobart MIG 140, and it makes great welds, but the Longevity 140 also makes great welds and it’s a solid machine.

In fact, it’s heavier than my Hobart.

Longevity is a worldwide brand, and trusted by manufacturing companies, construction companies, welding instructors, fabtech logoshipyards, the military, and of course the home hobbyist, farms & ranches, and the automotive enthusiast.

They are a leader in the welding industry, and are featured at events such as Fabtech.

Projects You Can Create With The Longevity MIG 140 MigWeld

This welder is perfect for home repairs, light fabrication, recreational use, and it’s a solid piece of equipment.

But what can it specifically do a great job at? You can build furniture, motorcycles, hot rods, BBQ pits, ornamental gates, and anything you can think of.

The possibilities are endless.

So, now I hope you have a better understanding of just why you don’t need to spend a lot of money to get started. Both machines I compared today are great, and they will both do what you want.

Really the biggest difference between the Longevity MIG 140 and the Hobart MIG 140 is the price. It comes down to whether you want to pay double the price for the same welder.

Plus, the big factor that will determine how good you weld is if you get some great beginners course welding instruction.

So, don’t do like me and put off learning how to weld because you don’t think you have what it takes. Anybody can learn this skill, and I do mean anybody. Even YOU! I hope you enjoyed this longevity migweld 140 review.
