“A very good and informative course. I have not welded in a very long time, and that was with stick welding. I have just now purchased a Lincoln Electric 180 dual mig welder (110-220V). It was always very messy (slag & spatter) probably because I didn't know proper electrode sizes and heat ranges. Your courses have helped fill a lot of blanks for me with proper techniques, heat/material thickness settings, layout and fabrication information. I have completed my first project with my Lincoln mig welder, however it was flux core because I haven't purchase the argon cylinder yet. My first project was a weld cart. I had watched others build there's and then I watched you building one. My plans came about from a number of ideas from a number of people. I created a two level cart because I have an old Lincoln 225 cracker box (stick) welder and my new Lincoln welder. Bought the welder and ran across Garrett's program on YouTube. I thought the sign up process was a little confusing - could be simplified. I felt a little like the late night vacuum sales pitch and it made me nervous but for the price I decided to give it a try and IT IS THE BEST tutorial I have seen. I would learn a few things and go running to the garage to try them out. After each video you can write comments or ask questions and Garrett gets right back to you. I don't think Garrett lets his coarse go stagnant, it is not just running and collecting $$ like a lot of web sites do. I have only belonged for a couple weeks but looks like he updates and improves the videos and takes comments seriously. He is a good teacher, explains things well. “I am totally new to welding. I have done a little torch brazing on bicycle frames but that is about it. I am overweight so I thought that I would build a recummbent tricycle frame so that I could ride. I started with no weld plans but moved to low temperature gas aluminum soldering/brazing. My frame is sort of cobbled together but there are filler rod puddles and drips everywhere and some of the parts are actually melted. It is hugely frustrating when the parts that you brazed before start to melt apart when you work on the other side of the joint. And it takes forever to do (15-25 minutes to get hot enough to melt the filler rod). I think that it is time to move on from gas brazing to MIG. Garrett's course is great because he takes that time to cover every nut and bolt of the process. The low temperature gas aluminum brazing actually worked very well when only joining two pieces of aluminum together but is horrible when you try to work on a vertical joint. I am looking forward to the rest of Garrett's course. Thanks.”

“Hello Garrett, yes, of course, I would be happy to allow you to share my story. I started out in the early 80’s completing a master diploma in gunsmithing. Had a great time doing this. As it became more and more difficult to continue this in Canada, I switched to repairing instruments. I became a violin and cello and fretted string instrument luthier. Working in wood is great but I missed the challenge of metal working. Thus, some years ago I added a smaller metal lathe and milling machine to my shop setup. Instant happiness. I recently decided to relearn what I have been missing with welding. I built a very nice propane fired foundry and forge. It works wonderfully and I enjoy a bit of blacksmithing. It was most timely to buy a welder due to the superb help from Garrett’s 90 minute MIG welding course. I have also purchased the next advanced course and will soon be onto that. With Garretts help, I finally purchased a new Lincoln 140 unit complete with gas gauges and hoses. Next step will be to buy a gun for aluminum wire. I have started to teach my 28 year old son how to use the forge for making knives. He is most excited that I am setting up for steel and aluminum welding as he is going to repair our 18 foot aluminum trailer himself. This has been great to have something my son and grandson will be able to learn. We shall have the fun of working together. I taught high school for 36 years.
